Cerro Gordo among 15 Bayamón Head Start centers cleared for generators
An emergency electricity generator for the Head Start center at Carretera 830, Sector Goveo, Cerro Gordo, Bayamón has environmental approval. It is one of 15 such approvals the Municipality of Bayamón's Head Start program won for its centers between July 30 and September 17, 2026.

The Cerro Gordo filing, case 2026-709267-DEC-331833, is dated September 14, 2026, and is approved. It is an environmental compliance determination by categorical exclusion, a finding that a routine action needs no further environmental planning. The municipality describes the project as the operation of an emergency generator for the center.
One request, center by center
The program filed the same request, in the same words, for 15 centers on 15 properties: 13 in Bayamón, one in Comerío and one in Naranjito. Six are dated September 7, among them Santa Elena and Valencia, and four September 14: Cerro Gordo, Miraflores, Juan Sánchez and Riverview. All 15 are approved.
Only the Santa Juanita 2 center also holds an approved permit for electricity generators, dated August 21, 2026. The Cerro Gordo center has neither that permit nor a construction permit, so its project is at an early stage, and the approval does not show that a generator is in place.
A preschool on municipal land
The municipality is the buyer on the property's only deed, a purchase dated June 5, 1992, with no price recorded. Of four single permits on record for the property since 2021, three are approved, the latest dated March 26, 2026, which describes a Head Start center offering preschool service; one from 2023 was archived.
The lot covers 3,934 m2 in an R-B low-density residential district. It also holds a neighbourhood sports court.
