Yauco rehouses an earthquake-displaced resident in a new home in Aguas Blancas
A resident of the Aguas Blancas sector of Yauco, Puerto Rico, received a new home on October 4, 2026, through a Southern Consortium initiative that rehouses families displaced by the earthquakes, periodicoelsolpr.com reported.
A home built to code
The new home meets all structural codes and has solar panels and a water cistern, the outlet reported. The Municipality of Yauco handed it over to the resident with the mayor of Yauco through the consortium's program for families who lost their homes in the earthquakes.
The consortium was created at the mayor's initiative to assist families affected by the earthquakes in the region, according to the outlet. The municipality has continued to arrange safe housing for displaced residents through this platform, the outlet reported, and the mayor said he will continue the initiative to benefit more families in the southern area of the island.
Aguas Blancas
Aguas Blancas is a Yauco barrio of 160 properties, none of them in a mapped flood zone. The property registry records two sales there in the past two years, on October 30, 2024 and October 8, 2026, at a median price of $102,500, and no home or lot in the barrio was on the market on October 19, 2026.
Rebuilding after the earthquakes runs through the permit file. Yauco's registers show reconstruction permits funded by the federal CDBG programs approved on 12 properties in 2024, 11 in 2025 and 19 so far in 2026.
Recorded sales in Yauco
Across the municipality, the registry shows 23 residential sales recorded in October 2025, counted from registered sale deeds. That is the latest month available, because deeds reach the registry late and the most recent year of the series is left out.
Those deeds put the median recorded residential sale price in Yauco at $100,000 in October 2025.
Homes for sale and for rent
Sellers had 47 homes actively listed for sale in Yauco on October 18, 2026, and were asking a median $500,000 in October 2026. That asking price rests on a small sample of listings and reflects what sellers want, which a deed may later show differently.
Landlords in Yauco were asking a median monthly rent of $644 in October 2026. The figure is partial, comes from fewer than five listings a month drawn from a regional panel, and records asks rather than signed leases.
