PRAK Industries to invest $1.17 million in Aibonito uniform plant
PRAK Industries LLC will invest $1,177,056 in machinery, equipment and infrastructure to expand its uniform manufacturing in a 20,000 square foot industrial property it leases from PRIDCO in the Parque Industrial de Aibonito, El Vocero reported on October 27, 2026. The governor, the secretary of Economic Development and Commerce and PRIDCO's executive director announced the investment that Tuesday, the outlet said.

Of the total, $577,056 goes to machinery and equipment and $600,000 to infrastructure improvements. The project covers the creation and retention of 120 jobs with an estimated annual payroll of $1.31 million, and the company projects average annual sales of $32 million in Aibonito, the outlet reported. Production is tied to two contracts with the US Defense Logistics Agency.
A plant in manufacturing since 1991
The property has housed manufacturing since 1991, when House of Harlie made gowns there for the pharmaceutical industry, El Vocero reported. PRAK took over the plant after that company left, and PRIDCO's executive director said the change brings the agency $97,599.57 in revenue over the term of the lease.
PRAK formally started operations at the plant on August 10, 2026, after years in which the plant was part of its subcontractor network, El Nuevo Día reported. The outlet said its 62 current employees are to grow to 120 in 2027, with a target of 150, and that the plant is the company's seventh in Puerto Rico, after five in Camuy and one in Orocovis. The Department of Economic Development and Commerce backs the expansion with about $520,000 in incentives, and PRIDCO is investing $88,000 in improvements to the park, which it put at 100% occupancy.
The plant's property
PRAK's own single permit application, filed on September 23, 2026, places the operation on PRIDCO's industrial property at Carretera 725 in Llanos, a 42,479 m2 lot. The application describes the manufacture of military and national security garments for its main client, the US Department of War, and the permits office has asked the company to correct it. A single permit bundles in one application the use permit and the other authorizations a business needs to operate.
PRIDCO had filed in 2024 to repair and improve an industrial building on the same property under its FEMA 4339 recovery program, and that work won a categorical exclusion from environmental review on February 28, 2024.
Industrial space for lease is rare in the town. The one industrial space advertised for lease in Aibonito today, 3,000 square feet of light industrial space on PR-173 in Llanos, asks $2,500 a month, or $10 a square foot a year.
