Aibonito clears an environmental step to repair the hurricane-damaged PR-716 road in Cuyón with FEMA funds
A repair of the stretch of PR-716 that Hurricane María damaged in Sector Ratones, Barrio Cuyón, Aibonito, has cleared an environmental step. An environmental compliance determination by categorical exclusion for the project, case 2026-713243-DEC-332652, was filed on October 7, 2026 by Municipio de Aibonito as public sponsor and is marked approved.
The municipality filed it as exempt public improvement works for a road repair project, PW-1493 PN 69661 PR 716, and wrote that the road was damaged by Hurricane María and received FEMA funds for its repair. A finding of this kind certifies that a routine or predictable action needs no further environmental planning.
The same project first appeared on April 21, 2025, as a legal pre-consultation, the optional orientation a sponsor can request before filing. No construction permit filing is on record yet, so the repair stands at the environmental step.
