Aguadilla's Escuela Rafael Cordero roof permit recorded as approved
A new Galvalum roof for the Escuela Rafael Cordero at Carr. Est. PR-467, Km 5.6, Bo. Camaseyes, Aguadilla has a construction permit recorded as approved. The filing, made on September 9, 2026 under case 2026-698921-PCOC-330499, names the Gobierno de Puerto Rico as owner and describes the work as the construction of a Galvalum roof at the school's facilities.

Three filings since July
The project's first construction permit filing came on July 10, 2026 and is recorded as under inspection. Four days later, on July 14, the project filed an environmental compliance determination by categorical exclusion, recorded as approved: the finding that routine work of this kind needs no further environmental planning.
The September 9 filing, a second consolidated construction permit for the same roof, is the latest of the three. A consolidated construction permit bundles the construction, remodeling and demolition permits into one; its approval does not by itself mean work has started.
The school's site
The property covers 4,069 m2 (43,802 sq ft) and is zoned DT-G, a district for public facilities, in flood zone X, outside the mapped high-risk flood areas. It is not the school's first project: a 2008 filing by the Autoridad para el Financiamiento de la Infraestructura asked to build a classroom on a second level of the Escuela Rafael Cordero.
The municipal government has also filed on the same property for its emergency management office: a single business permit filed on August 15, 2024, and a permit for an electric generator for that office filed on April 20, 2026. Both are recorded as approved.
Construction filings in Aguadilla
Aguadilla had 296 consolidated construction permit filings in the 12 months to November 5, 2026, 97 of them recorded as approved, against 331 in the 12 months before that. Three of the past year's filings are for school buildings, and two of those are this roof project's.
