Guaynabo files for a 1,176-square-meter basketball court in Camarones
Guaynabo's municipal government has filed to build a prefabricated structure of 1,175.90 square meters (12,657.27 square feet) on the park property at Carretera 169 Km 8.9, Sector La Muda, in Camarones (https://app.atlas.red/en/pr/parcel/carretera-169-guaynabo-00971-x3gau). The filing describes the structure as a basketball court with bathrooms, an office, a storage room and a concession store.
The project's environmental compliance determination by categorical exclusion, dated May 25, 2026, is approved. That is an early step: the consolidated construction permit for the same court, filed on June 25, 2026, is archived, and no approved construction permit for the court is on record.
The property covers 29,482 square meters and holds the Evelio Rivera baseball park. Repairs to the park's recreational facilities after Hurricane María have been the subject of three building pre-consultations since 2023, and the one filed in 2024 is archived. The latest, dated September 24, 2026, is approved and covers the reconstruction of the baseball park and its batting machine.
