Yauco stadium quake repairs: April 7 filing approved, no permit yet
The Municipio de Yauco holds an environmental compliance determination by categorical exclusion, filed April 7, 2026 and since approved, for repairs at the Estadio Mario Ñato Ramírez, the municipal stadium at Carr. PR-2, Km 197.4, Bo. Susua. The filing describes work to repair damage caused by the 2020 earthquakes, Hurricane María and Hurricane Fiona.
A categorical exclusion certifies that a routine or predictable action needs no further environmental planning. Before it, the municipality had a legal pre-consultation for the same stadium, filed March 30, 2026 and since approved, an optional orientation from the permits office that is not a final decision.
Those are the project's only two filings, and neither is a construction permit, so the repairs are at an early stage. A filing on its own does not establish that work has started.
Four repair projects in four days
The stadium was the first of four municipal repair projects in Yauco whose categorical exclusions were filed between April 7 and April 10, 2026 and have since been approved. The other three are municipal roads: Jalda del Río and Cuesta del Diablo in Barrio Algarrobo, and Vistas del Rodadero. The road filings say the work uses funds assigned by FEMA.
None of the four has a construction permit filing. Under a separate case, a repaving and landslide stabilization project at Vistas del Rodadero filed two infrastructure recommendation requests on August 3, 2026, one of them incomplete. The stadium has no filing after April 7.
