Orocovis clears repaving of 4,224 meters of roads in two rural sectors
The Municipio Autónomo de Orocovis has an approved environmental clearance for repaving 3,411.10 linear meters of municipal roads in Ala de la Piedra, Sector El Frío, and 812.91 more in Sector Los Ayala of Damián Arriba. The filing, dated September 10, 2026, is an early step: no construction permit filing is on file for the project.
The categorical exclusion, case 2026-708736-DEC-331744, is a finding that a routine action needs no further environmental study. The municipality proposes a complete rehabilitation of the asphalt layer, because the roads have cracks, potholes and stretches with no asphalt after constant traffic and the passage of heavy equipment. Both stretches are paid for with the Equitable Allocation for Program Year 2026.
A yearly run of repaving clearances
On September 25, 2025, three similar repaving projects of the municipality got the same approval: two in Damián Abajo and one in Pellejas. None of the three has a later filing in its case. Earlier repaving projects of the same municipal program were cleared the same way on February 13, 2023, in Sabana and on August 30, 2024, in Pellejas.
The filing names one property in Damián Arriba, a lot of 3,219 m2 / 34,650 sq ft classed as specially protected rural land of agricultural value, in the A-P agricultural zoning district. The property has no other permit filing and no recorded sale.
