Toyota announces $55 million expansion of Toa Baja distribution center
Toyota de Puerto Rico has announced a $55 million expansion of its vehicle and parts distribution center beside the PR-22 expressway in Toa Baja, Primera Hora reported on November 3, 2026, primerahora.com. According to the outlet, the company plans to spend the money over the next five years at a center that has operated since 2008.
A larger parts area
Primera Hora reported that the parts area will grow 30%, from 100,000 square feet to 130,000 square feet. According to the outlet, the center holds nearly half a million parts and handles more than 35,000 vehicles a year.
The center serves 22 Toyota dealers and service centers in Puerto Rico, along with two Lexus locations and two Toyota locations in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Primera Hora reported. Sin Comillas, sincomillas.com, reported on October 20, 2026 that the center serves 24 Toyota dealers in Puerto Rico.
El Vocero, elvocero.com, put the investment at more than $55 million on October 21, 2026, for a program to expand and modernize the site through 2031. That outlet reported that the work adds about 30,000 square feet to the parts area and upgrades the zones where vehicles are received and dispatched. It counted about 400,000 parts in the center today, against the nearly half a million that Primera Hora reported.
El Vocero also reported that the center opened on August 13, 2008, with a $43 million initial investment, and that the company has about 200 employees in Toa Baja. Sin Comillas gave the same $43 million figure for the original 2008 investment. It reported that the center will grow to 300,000 square feet, a size that covers the whole center rather than the 130,000-square-foot parts area Primera Hora described.
