This guide sets out how to credit RED Atlas when our data appears in your work. It applies to: Enterprise customers exercising the Publication license in the Enterprise Terms of Service; subscribers preparing Client Deliverables under Section 5.3 of the Terms of Service; and press using RED Atlas data with our permission. Following this guide is a condition of those licenses — publication without the required attribution is outside your license.
1. Approved Credit Lines
- Standard (digital and print): Source: RED Atlas (atlas.red)
- Formal (reports and legal contexts): RED Atlas Inc., All Rights Reserved.
- Spoken and broadcast: "according to RED Atlas" on first reference.
- Charts, tables, and maps: the Standard credit, placed on or immediately adjacent to each chart, table, or map that contains RED Atlas data.
In digital publications, "RED Atlas" or "atlas.red" in the credit must hyperlink to https://atlas.red. Credits must be legible, in a size and contrast consistent with your body text, proximate to the data they credit, and repeated on each page, screen, slide, or asset where the data appears. Add the "as of" date of the data where your format allows (for example, "Source: RED Atlas (atlas.red), data as of August 2026").
2. Using the RED Atlas Name and Logo
The plain text name "RED Atlas" in a credit line is permitted and expected. Display of the RED ATLAS logo is available to Enterprise customers only, with logo files and usage rules supplied by RED Atlas on request to brand@atlas.red. When licensed, logo use must follow the RED Atlas brand guidelines: use the provided lock-up without alteration; keep the clear space required by the guidelines on all sides; never stretch, recolor, rotate, screen back, or place the mark on low-contrast backgrounds; and never set the RED Atlas name in another typeface as a substitute for the mark.
3. What Attribution Does Not Permit
Attribution identifies the source of data — it does not expand your license. Regardless of credit, you may not: imply that RED Atlas sponsors, endorses, audits, or verifies your work, product, or conclusions; alter, misquote, or selectively present RED Atlas data in a misleading way; use RED Atlas marks in your own product, company, or domain names, in headlines, or in advertising keywords; republish data beyond the scope, volume, or media permitted by your agreement, or in a way that substitutes for a RED Atlas subscription; or attribute to RED Atlas figures that you have modified (present those as your own calculations "based on RED Atlas data").
4. Examples
- Correct (market report chart footer): "Source: RED Atlas (atlas.red), data as of July 2026."
- Correct (news article): "San Juan residential sales rose 8% year over year, according to RED Atlas."
- Incorrect: "RED Atlas-verified analysis" (implies endorsement); an unlabeled table of RED Atlas records (missing credit); "Source: RED Atlas" beneath figures you adjusted (misattribution).
